Automatic control function
Implement on/off control of circuitry
Relays can automatically switch the on/off state of circuitry based on variable inputs, such as voltage and current. In a given automatic production line, after the sensor detects that certain conditions have occurred to prompt the turning on or off of the signal corresponding to a relay action, the output that occurs will trigger a relay action controlling the operation of a motor or valve by switching the relevant circuitry on or off.

When the current in the circuit is too high or below the set value, the relay can cut off the circuit to prevent electrical equipment from being damaged due to low voltage operation
Overheating protection
Some electrical equipment, such as a motor, transformer, etc., are apt to get overheated. Temperature relays are mounted on such equipment for overheating protection. When the temperature of the device rises above the set value, the temperature relay operates and disconnects the circuit to avoid damage to the device caused by overheating.

Signal Isolation
Besides electrical isolation, the relays can also achieve the function of the signal isolation. The relay may convert the input signal into the action signal of the contact and achieve the signal isolation transmission by controlling the on/off of the output circuit with opening and closing in case of the requirement that the input signal and output signal are isolated from each other.
For some automation control systems, signal isolation can effectively prevent different signal interferences and crosstalk; it enhances the stability and reliability of the system.
