1. Structural difference: There is a big difference in structure between the two. The electromagnetic relay works by utilizing the suction force generated by the circuit in the input circuit between the electromagnet core and the armature; the electronic components of the solid relay simply perform its functions without mechanical moving components, and the input and output are isolated.
2. Difference in working methods: Electromagnetic relays use the principle of electromagnetic induction to control the circuit on and off through the power of electromagnets. Therefore, when DC is used to connect the coil, the contacts can communicate with DC; solid-state relays rely on the power of semiconductor devices and electronic components. Electrical, magnetic and optical characteristics are used to complete its isolation and relay switching functions. Therefore, it is divided into DC input-AC output type, DC input-tributary output type, AC input-AC output type, and AC input-DC output type.
3. Difference in working status: The electromagnetic relay uses the suction effect generated between the armatures to open and close the circuit. Therefore, the action response is slow, noisy, and the life is limited; the solid-state relay responds quickly, operates noiselessly, and has a long life.
4. Electromagnetic relays are generally inferior to solid-state relays in their influence on factors such as temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure (altitude), sand and dust pollution, chemical gases and electromagnetic interference.
5. Difference in electrical performance: Compared with electromagnetic relays and solid-state relays, the former has a simple driving method, but consumes a lot of power per drive. Although the isolation measures are very good, it has good short-term overload tolerance and can control large currents, but in High-power applications are not as stable as the latter, and when it is necessary to control circuits with complex actions, the service life will be far less long than the latter.
